Mike Semanco serves as President and Chief Operating Officer for Hennessey Capital, a relationship-based, innovative finance company which provides working capital financing and business coaching to small and mid-sized businesses.

Mike has over 18 years of experience in the financial service industry.  Prior to the start of Hennessey Capital in 2002, Mike spent more than eight years with Crestmark Bank holding various sales and credit positions.  He began his banking career working with a Detroit-based credit union and local commercial bank while attending college.

A native Detroiter, Mike received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Walsh College in 1991 and a Master of Science degree in Finance in 1999.  He was named Walsh College’s Distinguished Alumni of the year in 2006. Mike remains active with the College, serving on the College’s Board of Trustees and the President’s Advisory Council; he is a Board Member of the Walsh College Alumni Association. Further, Hennessey Capital is a corporate sponsor of Walsh College’s Business Leadership Institute, which supports leadership development for small and medium-sized businesses.

Mike is active with local charitable and business efforts.  He serves as Chair of the Detroit Regional Chamber Small Business Advisory Council, a core group of highly respected leaders that advise the Chamber on member benefits, public policy and economic development issues affecting small businesses in the Detroit Region.  Mike also participates in the Chamber’s Access to Capital initiative and helps create webinars and education forums to assist small businesses in accessing capital. He is on the finance committee for Automation Alley; a Director of the Commercial Finance Association; Member of the Association for Corporate Growth, Turnaround Management Association, Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Michigan Bankers Association.  Mike also acts in an advisory capacity to Crime Stoppers, a regional organization involved with creating safer communities.

In September 2007, Mike was named a 40 under 40 honoree by Crain’s Detroit Business. The prestigious “40 under 40″ list recognizes influential Southeast Michigan business professionals, community activists and opinion leaders under the age of 40.

Mike has written several industry articles and frequently participates in panel discussions on small business financing and strategies.
